Location :

The Gundre Zone is located in the central part of Bandipur Tiger Reserve and lies along important wildlife movement corridors. It is easily accessible from the Gundlupet side of the park and is characterized by gentle hills, open forest tracks, and proximity to seasonal streams and valleys that attract wildlife

Flora

• Dry deciduous forests dominated by teak
• Bamboo groves spread across the zone
• Mixed forest vegetation with shrubs and grasses
• Seasonal flowering plants after monsoon
• Open grassy patches that attract herbivores

Fauna 

• Large herds of Asian elephants
• Indian gaur (bison) commonly sighted
• Deer species like sambar and spotted deer
• Leopards and occasional tiger movement
• Reptiles such as pythons and monitor lizards

Best Time to Visit 

• October to March: Pleasant weather and active wildlife
• April to May: Higher chances of sightings near water sources
