Magadhi Zone

The Magadhi Zone is known for its dense sal forests and diverse topography. It’s named after the Magadhi River that flows through the region, creating a vital water source for the park’s wildlife. The area offers a wilder, more untamed safari experience compared to the busier Tala Zone.

What Makes Magadhi Special?

  • The zone features thick forest cover with numerous water bodies, creating ideal habitats for various species.
  • It is relatively less crowded, providing a more intimate wildlife viewing experience.
  • The Magadhi River attracts animals during dry months, making it a strategic viewing area.

Wildlife Highlights:

  • Tigers: Regular sightings occur, especially near water sources and forest clearings.
  • Herbivores: Gaur (Indian bison), spotted deer, and nilgai are frequently observed.
  • Birdlife: Kingfishers, herons, and storks are commonly seen along the riverbanks.

Best Time to Visit:

  • Pre-monsoon and summer months (March to June) when animals congregate around water bodies.
  • Late afternoon safaris are ideal for spotting animals emerging from the dense forest.
