The Kohora Range is the most popular safari zone in Kaziranga and serves as the central tourism hub of the park. Known for its expansive grasslands, wetlands, and dense patches of forest, this zone offers some of the most iconic wildlife experiences in Kaziranga.

What Makes Kohora Special?

The zone features classic Kaziranga landscapes with tall elephant grass, marshes, and open floodplains.
It is one of the few areas where both jeep safaris and elephant safaris are commonly conducted.
The region offers excellent accessibility and well-established safari routes.

Wildlife Highlights:

  • One-Horned Rhinoceros: One of the best zones to see the famous Indian rhinoceros grazing in grasslands.
  • Tigers: Although sightings are rare, the zone has a strong tiger population.
  • Elephants & Deer: Herds of wild elephants, swamp deer, and hog deer are frequently seen.

Best Time to Visit:

The winter season (November to February) offers pleasant weather and excellent wildlife activity.
Early morning elephant safaris provide the best chance to observe rhinos up close.
