Kanha Zone

The broad meadows, grasslands, and bamboo plants of the Kanha zone provide some unusual sightings. George Schaller, a researcher and conservationist, is honoured by the Schaller Road in the Kanha Zone. Based on Kanha, he authored the novel “The Tiger and the Deer.”

Shravan Taal is a popular tourist destination and the fabled location where King Dashrath killed Shravan Kumar after mistaking him for a deer. Within the Kanha zone is the Kanha museum, which maintains indigenous culture and exhibits park history.

Larger meadows and dry deciduous woodlands habitat in the Sarahi Zone. The Saunf meadow, where the Barasingha was first discovered in 1966, is one of them.
